Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Zurich Life Property Fund.

The Property Fund primarily invests in a commercial property trust, giving exposure to property and property-related investments. Its underlying property holdings currently include offices, retail, industrial and mixed-use assets in Ireland and the UK, and it may also invest in property-related securities and cash instruments. The fund may hold a significant amount in cash while it looks for suitable opportunities.

The Property Fund currently has a temporary suspension on withdrawals from, and investments into, the fund. Withdrawals and switches out of the fund can also be deferred, which means access to money may be delayed rather than paid immediately. This is linked to liquidity risk, which means the fund may not be able to sell assets quickly enough to meet requests for cash.

The Property Fund may use forward foreign exchange contracts to hedge any currency exposure within the fund. Hedging means it tries to reduce the impact of exchange-rate movements on returns. This does not remove all risk, but it may help limit losses or gains caused by currency changes.

The Property Fund invests in a commercial property trust that is managed by State Street Global Advisors Ireland Limited. That trust is the main vehicle through which the Property Fund gains its property exposure. The trust’s current focus includes property assets in Ireland and the UK.
